Late 2020 we went out camping 2 hours
north east of Melbourne towards the Victorian highland. Big
River is between Marysville and Warburton towards lake Eildon.
January 2021 during the Christmas
holiday season NW Victoria was on the list. There are some amazing
places and only some pictures will give an idea, how diverse the country
is in this region.
Big dessert is a great place to go,
just be equipped for the roads.
Rain may force you to stay some more days longer than planned.
Interesting as well the South Australian border
track. Again, just be prepared to turn around and don't take
unnecessary risks. You may be alone for many days, if you get stuck.
Beautiful sunsets are common
during the year.
Close are the Pink
Lakes, an area of salt lakes, which are colored by some rare
algae, which live in the water. Interesting as well, how quick a
lake disappears in summer time. Lake
Hindmarsh can quickly fill up, once rain starts.
Hopefully soon we're out of the
lockdown, and some new trips may line up. Social distancing is not
difficult in Victoria's country side, nor is it always required, as
not everyone you meet is a
potential risk.
